Quiet location surrounded by nature with friendly pet ducks and a dog. Full washing facilities available. Greeted with scones, butter, and jam. Owner shared a nettle soup recipe and served nettle and chocolate mint tea. Dog-friendly with plenty of books and internet.

What a wonderful place and hosts. From the moment we arrived we were greeted with warmth, openness and baked goods! The chalet was built with their own hands and while a little basic, it was exactly what we wanted. The drive to the farm is past wonderful hills and lakes and we would have loved to spend many more days hiking the area, it left us with a desire to come back and visit Donegal for longer. It should be noted that there was barely any wifi reception which we needed to plan our route for the next day but with a little persistence we were able to connect for long enough for this purpose. In the evening Marion and Fiona gave us a little demo on their fiddles and we were very grateful to hear about their lives in Ireland and the centrality of music.
Would recommend this hotel.

our stay at meadowsweet forest lodge was even better than our previous visit in fintown. the peaceful and secluded location surrounded by nature exceeded our expectations. the spacious and comfortable accommodation, friendly hosts, and lack of internet and tv created the perfect relaxing atmosphere. highly recommend for a off-the-grid getaway.

The units at Meadowsweet Forest Lodge were absolutely cozy and comfortable. I loved the seating area where I could relax after a long day of trekking. The fully equipped kitchen with a microwave was perfect for preparing quick meals. It made me feel at home. The private bathroom was spacious and had all the necessary toiletries. The hairdryer was a lifesaver! The views of the garden from the units were simply breathtaking. Waking up to such beauty was a treat. The villa also had a toaster, microwave, and electric kettle, making it convenient for enjoying a hot cuppa in the morning. The seating area in the units was a nice addition, providing a cozy spot to unwind and chat with friends.
Personally, I found that the presence of a toaster in the villa was unnecessary for me. But I can see how others might enjoy it.

We had an amazing time hiking and cycling through the breathtaking hills and lakes near the lodge. The natural beauty of the surroundings was truly mesmerizing. Our children were captivated by the wildlife and enjoyed every moment of our outdoor adventures. It was the perfect place for a family to bond and connect with nature.
For dads, it would be great to have a small playground for the children.

We got great value for our money, with a basic yet comfortable room that had everything we needed. The location of the lodge was absolutely stunning, surrounded by beautiful hills and lakes. The staff at the lodge, Marion and her husband, were incredibly friendly and welcoming, making us feel right at home.
Hotel breakfast could have been better with more variety or options.

We loved the cozy and snug space of Meadowsweet Forest Lodge. the couple running the lodge went above and beyond, providing firewood, appliance instructions, and even checking in on us during a power outage. They even greeted us with delicious fresh scones upon our arrival. the location within the forest was absolutely beautiful, with ducks roaming freely and birds singing. the fully equipped kitchen allowed us to save money by cooking our own meals. It was a great place to slow down and enjoy nature away from the hustle and bustle of the cities.
Felt quite safe, no complaint.

The location was perfect for a peaceful holiday amidst nature. We were surrounded by beautiful scenery and even got to interact with friendly pet ducks and a lovable dog. The washing facilities were excellent and we were even greeted with delicious scones, butter, and jam. The owners were very helpful and provided us with tips on making nettle soup and offered us a taste of their nettle and chocolate mint tea. We also appreciated the availability of books to read and the option of using the internet.
The only downside was the unreliable cell service in the area, which made it difficult to stay connected. However, the host provided a solution by offering a 4G hotspot, which was sufficient for our needs.

Stayed at a place with "free WiFi" that was basically non-existent. Great for those who enjoy playing hide and seek with the internet. But hey, at least the mountain views were nice.
WiFi? More like Wi-Goodbye, because it was practically non-existent. Bye-bye to my hopes of staying connected.

We had a fantastic stay at this remote and beautiful lodge. The cabin was whimsically designed with great attention to detail. The kitchen was well-equipped and the covered deck was a lovely spot for breakfast or a cuppa. The location offered stunning landscape and scenery, perfect for hiking. The nearby Glen bar was a great stop for live music and a pint. The hosts were warm and welcoming, even treating us to baked goods. It truly felt like a magical experience and we can't wait to come back with our children.

What a fantastic stay at Meadowsweet Forest Lodge! From the moment I arrived, the warm and friendly people made me feel right at home. The location was absolutely breathtaking, surrounded by stunning hills and lakes. The lodge itself was cozy and had everything I needed for a relaxing stay in Donegal. I especially loved the homemade scones that were delivered to my door. Although the lack of WiFi was a small inconvenience, it was actually a blessing in disguise as it allowed me to fully disconnect and enjoy the tranquility of nature. I highly recommend this lodge for anyone looking to get away from it all and experience the beauty of Donegal.
